    Homestead Tax Exemption

I don’t know if I’ve ever titled a blog so to the point. The search engines might appreciate the brevity, but it leaves me feeling a little cold. I guess it’s hard to dress up a post about taxes.

    They are what they are.

Ed. Note: I’ve played a couple thousand games of Scrabble in my life, and never- ever- have I had this Money/Taxes combination.

If you purchased your home in 2008, it’s time to start thinking about filing for your Homestead Exemption. Homestead Exemption enables you to save a substantial amount on your annual property taxes. In Georgia, you’re entitled to the exemption if you have owned the home and it was your legal residence as of January 1 of the taxable year. And the great thing is, you only need file for the exemption one time. Once you file for it, you don’t need to file it for subsequent years.
