    Cash For Clunkers

As the author of a blog that deals with Atlanta and real estate, it’s my duty to address traffic/cars/driving at least once a month, and tax credits- in some way, shape or form- at least once a week. Thanks to the Federal Government’s Car Allowance Rebate System (It spells CARS! Get it!?), I have the opportunity to hit both quotas in one fell swoop.

CARS- aka Cash For Clunkers- is a one billion dollar program designed to help stimulate the auto industry while also cleaning older, fuel-inefficient vehicles off of the road. Participants have the opportunity to reap as much as $4,500 if they trade in a vehicle that gets less than 18 mph for one that achieves a minimum of 28 mph. The program is available to everyone, regardless of income, and will run until November 1- or when the billion dollars runs out- whichever happens first.
Check out this interesting “Cars For Clunkers Demystification Chart“. For another perspective, check out ABCNEWS.com’s hard-hitting analysis of the program.
