    In Praise of Programmable Thermostats

In lieu of the fact that the A/C in my house is currently, shall we say, on furlough, I’ve decided that now is as good a time as ever to write about programmable thermostats.

While it’s easy to confuse the programmable thermostat simply as an aesthetic upgrade over the old school controls, the new school push-button approach brings with it an opportunity to save some serious dough. According to the EPA, the average home can save $180 a year by switching over to a programmable model, enough cash to finance the switch and then some.
Whenever you can save money, ease your carbon footprint and make your house look cooler, you’re the big winner.
