    Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Socials

Kelley O'Connor and her Grammy-winning voice should not be missed.

For $20, you could go see Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl ham it up in the critically acclaimed Killers.  Of course, you could also take said $20 and hear beautiful, live classical music.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is presenting a series of evenings designed to introduce classical music to a new audience.  Symphony Socials- Evenings For Young Professionals is aimed at bringing young(er) folks together for a night of mingling and Mozart.  It’s an opportunity to meet emerging classical artists, make new friends, and enjoy the symphonic sounds of the ASO, a local treasure.

This Friday, check out the first installment of the series.  For more information, here’s a blurb straight from the ASO:

    6:30pm — 7:30pm
    Pre-concert Symphony Social at TAP
    Meet Atlanta Symphony musicians
Selection of food and specialty cocktails

    8:00pm
Concert at Atlanta Symphony Hall featuring conductor Robert Spano and Mezzo-Soprano Kelley O’Connor

MOZART: Symphony No. 40 in G minor
    LIEBERSON: Neruda Songs (ASO Premiere)
MOZART: Symphony No. 41 in C major

The melodic spark of Mozart’s much-adored 40th and 41st (“Jupiter”) Symphonies highlights the season finale. Ms. O’Connor, an ASO favorite in Ainadamar and other works, “held the audience captive” (Chicago Tribune) in a 2008 performance of U.S. composer Peter Lieberson’s five songs based on Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s love sonnets.
