    Castleberry Point Struts Its Stuff

Castleberry Hill’s monthly Art Stroll is always a good time.  Held on the second Friday of each month, the stroll is veritable block party, with galleries, bars and studios all playing host to throngs of chin-scratching, art-loving Atlantans.  This Friday Castleberry Point- an area condominium development- is getting in on the good time.

The event celebrates the opening of the building’s new art gallery, Emerging Art Scene, with the show “Full Circle” by artist Chris Dolan and a water feature by the Atlanta Water Gardens.  As if that weren’t enough, the party features local lit legend Hollis Gillespie’s, “The Shocking Real-Life Writer’s Block Party,” lots of SweetWater, DJ Rod Summers and food from an establishment near and dear to my heart, J.R. Crickets.

And then, there’s the building itself.  Brand spanking new (actually, built in 2008… but that’s about as new as new condominium construction gets these days), the all brick building is proving to be a popular alternative to the rehabbed lofts that dot the Castleberry Hill landscape.  Castleberry Point features the standard popular, modern interior upgrades (sealed concrete and hardwood floors, granite countertops, etc.) plenty of light and a full slate of community amenities.  Perhaps the most striking feature, however, is the pricing: units are starting at $99,900.   When you add in to the mix that the building has been approved for FHA financing and the developer is offering to pay closing costs and HOA fees, it’s a pretty attractive deal. If you’re currently renting, it might be worth taking a spin on the mortgage calculator on this one… it may be one of those obvious cases where it makes much more sense to own rather than rent.
