Why Ashford Park?
Ashford Park is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Brookhaven, for all the reasons that you might suspect: close proximity to mass transit/major roads, strong schools, great parks, walkability and good value for the money.
My listing at 1323 Oaklawn Avenue nails it, for all the reasons listed above. Its located less than ten minutes from the heart of the neighborhood, meaning that regardless of whether you’re looking for sushi, brunch, wine, pizza or date night, you’re able to hoof it on foot. There’s a MARTA station around the corner, so for many, its quite possible that there’s no reason to slog through the notorious Atlanta commute. And as far as the house is concerned, well, the pictures just begin to tell the story: tons of natural light, space a plenty, and a backyard that will make you the envy of the entire neighborhood.
I could crow about this one all day. Instead, I’ll let the homeowner share what she loves about her home…
What Makes 1323 Oaklawn The House To Purchase Right Now In Ashford Park
Q. What’s your favorite part of your home?
A. The light, spaciousness, and beautiful view. The living room, kitchen and dining room are light throughout the day. The garden blooms all year and is beautiful to look at from morning through nighttime. For me it’s been an oasis – quiet and private, yet a short walk from main parts of Brookhaven.
Q. What makes your home’s location so ideal?
A. It is a 3-5 block walk from the restaurant and shops on Dresden, the library, MARTA, and all the essentials – banks, groceries, wine, restaurants, etc. and less than 1 mile from Town Brookhaven. It’s an easy hop onto 400 or 85, or straight down Peachtree to shopping and food in North Buckhead.
Q. For those looking for a terrific back yard, what can you share about your home?
A. With a path from the front, a fence, and beautiful plantings of trees, shrubs, and flowers, the backyard is beautiful all year long, and pretty simple to maintain. A walk-out from the terrace level, or down the deck stairs. Enough grass to feel like a yard. And great views from the main rooms on the first floor. It’s a slice of heaven.
Q. What will you miss most about your house?
A. So much! Really, it’s in the answers to the above questions: the light, the flow, the yard, the spacious terrace level office all within in an easy walk to everything I need on a regular basis. I work from home, so creating the terrace level that allows me to be productive while bathed in light, and having the convenience of a kitchen and bathroom. Or having the space for guests when the upstairs bedrooms were full.
Q. 24 hours eating and drinking within walking distance of your house- where are you going, and what are you eating?
A. My favorite local spots, all within walking distance are: Valenza and Terra Terroir – both have great food and a patio. For people who are looking for a more casual environment I can recommend Kaleidoscope. Buford Highway and almost any ethnic food you want is within 7 minutes. And there is a Starbucks a few blocks away as well as Copper Coin in Town Brookhaven.
