I’ve been hearing pretty consistent “”oohs and ahhs”” about my new listing at 307 Milledge Avenue in Grant Park. I figured that it was only fair to introduce the brains behind the beauty, Jeff Gaines of Strategic Construction Services. Jeff worked tirelessly on the restoration of this historic charmer, and the results speak for themselves. One lucky home buyer is going to end up with a gem of a home. Meet Jeff, learn more about renovations, and find out where he’d eat dinner if he had one night left in Atlanta…
Q. What are the biggest challenges in renovating old homes?
A. Retrofitting upgrades (cabinets, trim, doors and windows) into out of level, out of true and not square spaces. They make it look pretty standard on HGTV, but every house is different. When you’re dealing with a home that’s literally 100 years old, it takes a little bit of elbow grease and creative thinking to make everything look picture perfect.
Q. If you could give one piece of home maintenance to first time home buyers, what would it be?
A. Clean gutters regularly, maintain paint and caulking, stop leaks as soon as they become apparent and change your HVAC filters. A little preventive maintenance will save homeowners a ton of money and headaches over time.
Q. Hidden Atlanta gems?
Q. Final night of eating in Atlanta- where are you going, what are you eating?
A. Feast Noir – Atlanta’s own tribute to Diner En Blanc
Q. Why is 307 Milledge – by far – the best home currently on the market in Grant Park?
A It is classic Historical Grant Park – A truly charming victorian upgraded for the modern lifestyle. Flowing, open and spacious with amenities galore and convenient to everything Intown Atlanta has to offer.
