MAK (McDonough, Adams, and Kings Highway) Historic District

This 10-city-block historic district just west of Agnes Scott College was Decatur’s first residential subdivision and eventually became its first locally designated historic district. Most homes in the scenic neighborhood are bungalows, English Cottages, Queen Annes and English Vernacular Revivals and were constructed from 1907 through the 1930s — although some newer in-fill constructions that went up prior to the area’s designation as a historic area. About 140 of the neighborhood’s 166 parcels are contributing historic properties. The beautifully landscaped area with mature trees is close to both Renfroe Middle School and Oakhurst Elementary.
