Word on the street is that there are a lot of soon to be homeless Christmas trees out there. Last year, the Grant Park Conservancy recycled nearly 300 Christmas trees during their annual “”Bring One for the Chipper”” event, and this year they’re looking to treecycle even more.
This Saturday, January 5th the Boy Scouts will be on hand from 9-3 at the south end of the Boulevard parking lot helping load trees into the on-site wood chipper. Not sure you feel like shlepping the tree to the park? For ten bucks, neighborhood Cub Scouts* will pick up your tree and bring it down to the chipper.
Dispose of your tree the right way while helping support the kids. Win-win, people.
Check out the Grant Park Conservancy’s website for more information on the event.
* I’m guessing that most of the heavy lifting will be done by the Cub Scouts’ parents.
