Nearly five years ago, I launched A Is For Atlanta. There was no grand plan- I just figured I’d write a blog post every once in a while. It wasn’t much to look at- just a humble site hosted by Blogger– but the blog quickly began to take on a life of its own. I re-discovered a love for writing, and found that it was the perfect medium for me to communicate my unique point of view with regards to Atlanta and real estate in general.
Fast forward to 2010. I hired a professional designer and a real estate software company to help me take the site to the next level. It was a tremendous investment, and it felt a little bit like I was making the blog “”official”” by declaring it as my primary business website. I was intimidated, and if I’m being honest, just a little freaked out.
500+ blog posts later and it’s time to take the next step forward. I’ve been working on this site relaunch for several months, and I’m excited to finally be able to pull the curtain on it. Quite a lot of work has gone in to this new site, and there are a few people who deserve some serious pats on the back:
- Ellen Witt, SeeMeDesign– Ellen’s a great designer, but it’s not her design acumen alone that sets her apart. She’s a phenomenal communicator, a careful listener who can take the most rudimentary feedback and spin it in to really pretty pictures. Ellen designed my last website, and is responsible for what you’re looking at right now. She’ll design my next website, and the one after that. Once you’ve worked with someone as good as Ellen, it’s hard to imagine working with anyone else. I’m lucky to have her in my corner.
- Scott, Alan, Kanwei and the entire crew at Showcase Real Estate Laboratories– I hadn’t even considered a site reboot when I met the Showcase crew for lunch at HD1 in late 2012. A plate or two of heartburn inducing sausages (and an iPad show-and-tell) later and my mind was made up: I needed to incorporate their technology in to a new website. The search functionality, neighborhood pages and listing displays on the site are now all powered by Showcase, and they’re fantastic. Whether you’re a casual real estate surfer or a die-hard “”need to buy a house tomorrow”” buyer I know that you’ll love playing with what these guys have created.
- Aaron Laibson, Clever+Swift– Aaron is the straw that stirred this drink, and his company name- Clever + Swift couldn’t be more appropriate. Between the new design, technology and WordPress integration, Aaron had to make lots of different disparate parts come together as one, and he brought it all together in short order. He’s been a phenomenal resource: responsive, knowledgeable and pro-active.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank you friends, family, clients, fellow agents and strangers who’ve visited the site. Your support and positive feedback has been hugely encouraging. Without your eyeballs on the screen, this website would be a pretty lonely place.
