Roswell native Mikey Post may not have grown up on skates, but he’s earning his icey chops in The Holiday Ice Spectacular. Currently finishing up a run at the Cobb Energy Centre, The Holiday Ice Spectacular brings together world-class skaters with world class holiday storytelling. Mikey shares a a few words on Atlanta, and the show…
My sister lives in Grant Park, so that part of town I enjoy. Midtown and Buckhead are fun for going out. I used to party at clubs like Vision & Compound, but I don’t think they exist anymore. I’ve been to Tongue and Groove a few times as well as Opera. My parents live in Roswell, so I also hang out there a lot when I’m in town.
You’ve got one meal to eat in Atlanta: where are you going, and what are you ordering?
El Porton in Roswell! My favorite restaurant for the last 15 years! Nothing else compares. The fajitas and cheese dip I crave when I’m back in LA.
Besides your show, what else is “spectacular” in and around Atlanta during the Holiday season?
As a kid, my parents would always take my brother, sister and me over to ride the pink pig. I’m too old now (but certainly not too TALL to ride, hah). That always seemed pretty “”spectacular”” to me, as well as The Festival of Trees!
What’s the hardest part about putting on a show on ice?
The ice! I am not a skater, by any means. So, I wear spikes on my shoes so that I don’t slip, which I’ve only done once during an actual show (so far). But, we played it off well and the audience just thought it was my crazy character being silly!
What is The Holiday Ice Spectacular, and why is it awesome?
Our show is so awesome because it’s not just skating, not just singing, not just dancing, not just comedy and not just fun…but all of them combined!
The Holiday Ice Spectacular runs through December 24. Get your tickets now, you’re running out of time.
