Candler Park has always been one of our favorite neighborhoods in Atlanta, and our new listing at 283 Candler Street is the quintessential Candler Park bungalow. It’s also just one of those special houses that makes you smile from the minute you set your eyes on her. Expansive front deck, 12-foot ceilings, 4 fireplaces, chef’s kitchen, spa-like master bath, natural light for miles, back deck to end all back decks, oversized back shed (hello, studio space!), flat yard and… get this… it backs up to Mulberry Fields! No doubt we’re just a little bit excited about this one. A few more words of house-love, from the current homeowners….
Q. What makes living in Candler Park so special?
A. Candler Park has a strong feeling of community. There really is a small town within Atlanta. From neighbors hanging out on each other’s porches to kids playing together in the park. Similarly, we all celebrate at the variety of festivals that take place in the park throughout the year. The home has access to great parks and green spaces, short walks to restaurants and shops and a know-your-neighbor kind of community. It is actually a really special place.
Q What are your favorite places to walk to for food and drink?
A. We love to walk to Candler Market and La Fonda and Fellini’s in downtown Candler Park. It’s only a 10-minute stroll, too. Moreover, Inman Park is just around the corner as well, so we’ve always got dozens of walkable options to choose from. We feel like we can walk to the best coffee, barbecue, sandwiches, pizza, coffee, and restaurants in town!
Q. Your house backs up to Mulberry Fields Community Garden and Greenspace, one of the best kept secrets in Atlanta. What makes it such a special place?
A. We love having Mulberry Fields in our backyard in addition to living near so many options. We also have direct access to an in town garden and park where the neighborhood kids love to play and see the animals. It makes for a very quiet and peaceful backyard, and another amazingly lush view from our back porch.
Q. What do you love most about your Candler Park bungalow?
A. From the original hardwood floors and fireplaces to the 12-foot ceilings and crown molding, our house embodies the charm and character of Candler Park bungalow architecture. It’s a happy home that opens to a beautiful, backyard nestled beside Mulberry Fields, too. That is hard to find in the heart of the city. Our house brings us together with the many families that live on the street. It makes us part of this wonderful community.
